Ralph's Daily Devotional - Thursday, May 24

Since the beginning of the church, recognition of the similarities between Exodus 2 and Matthew 2 have been noted and discussed:

1. Both stories revolve around a baby - Moses and Jesus

2. Both speak of an evil tyrant bent on the child's destruction - Pharaoh and Herod

3, Both tyrant's orders are resisted and thwarted, as in the case of the midwives who spared the children and the Magi who fled Herod

4. Both children become deliverers despite the evil agenda of their persecutors

Interesting, is it not?

God's "weakness" in sending a child to accomplish His purpose serves as an example and warning to all lending great credence to the truth of Jesus' beattitude, "The meek shall inherit the Earth."
