Ralph's Daily Devotional - Friday, May 11

The ethical implications for Israel as a result of the Exodus are rarely mentioned, yet they project forward an inestimable contribution to how Israel herself is to treat those oppressed as they enter into covenant with God.

Read these fascinating short verses: Exodus 22:20; 23:9; Leviticus 19:33-34; Deuteronomy 5:13-15; 10:17-19; 15:12-15; 23:8; 24:17-22

Israel is not to become an insular, closed monastic-driven society and community whose interest and concerns are exclusive only to its elite membership.  Rather, the model set by God is to be emulated and translated into loving concern for all.  This forms the basis of Matthew 25:31-46 in Jesus' teachings.
